Nina BatesAthens - Nina Bates, 90, of Athens, died Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Lindley Inn in The Plains.Born October 4, 1934, in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Nina Glick Bates. Nina was raised in Columbus, Ohio and has been a long-time resident of Athens and Venice, Florida. She was very active in the Athens Community and was a founding member of The Athens Friends and Neighbors. Nina had a passion for art; she studied it at the Columbus School of Art and Design, the University of Cincinnati and Ohio University. She has had many of her paintings on exhibit including at the Royal Academy in Glasgow and the Venice Art Center. She loved to travel, and visited or resided in France, Italy, Scotland, England, Indonesia, China and Brazil.She is survived by three children, Cynthia (Mike) Chapman, Scott Lee and Annette (Mark) Mitera; eleven grandchildren, John, Holly, Eric, Nicole, Christopher, Robert, Whitney, Jordan, Caleb, Nicholas and Allison; sixteen g
