Shade Barbara Jean Bennett Smith took the hand of her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2024, accepting her heavenly reward, and reuniting with many family members and friends who had preceded her to heaven. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother John W. "Bill" Bennett, sister, Lois J. Bennett, grandson, Andrew D. Smith, and special cousin, Jeanne Wagner. She is survived by her husband, David H. Smith, sons, David (Linda) and James (Shana), grandsons, Ian (Jessica), Ethan, Elijah, and Jude, and granddaughter, Saoirse.Barbara was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Ida (Moore) Bennett. She met handsome sailor Dave Smith shortly after graduation from Central High School. Dave switched from Navy to career Air Force, and they married January 18, 1957. Traveling, working and living at many bases throughout the country, son David was born in Orlando, Florida in 1958 and son Jim in Grand Forks North Dakota in 1968.After retiring from
